Merbau

Color: Brown. Has an orangish-brown color when freshly cut, which ages to a darker reddish-brown. Color between boards can be highly variable. There are also small yellow mineral deposits found throughout the wood, making it easier to separate from other lookalikes.

Ironwood

Color: Dark Brown. The heartwood is initially light brown to almost bright yellow. Upon exposure it matures into deep reddish brown, very dark brown, or almost black.

Yellow Balau

Color: Yellow Brown. Fades to dark grey brown overtime when exposed to sunlight.

Chengai

Color: Light yellow-brown in colour that seasons to dark brown. It has prominent ripple marks.
